I was sitting on the Belintash Bulgaria plateau, watching a guy struggling with his inner battle of desire and fear - wanting to jump across a fissure on the way to the last layer of the plateau.
After about 20 mins of hesitation, he finally gave up…. and just as he was walking away, another guy came and jumped right over. After seeing that, he quickly overcame his fear and jumped over too. My recent travels through Greece and Bulgaria, I been visiting many ancient churches dedicated to saints and mystics/prophets… to me, they represent “inSPIRITation” to BE/ACHIEVE the highest potential of LOVE, SERVICE, and ONENESS CONSCIOUSNESS with SOURCE and ALL THAT IS like them… not to idolize them. They are showing us IT IS POSSIBLE. Oftentimes, all we need is to see it can be done. “When people are inspired they don’t need motivation.” - Thomas Leonard THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU

While I was hiking through the Seven Lakes in Rila Bulgaria, taking in the immense beauty of the region, my thoughts came to the bombings in Israel that my friend was talking about the other day.
I told him I was just there in 2017, and I was so excited about the Israeli and Palestinian women marching together for days, saying how they want to live amongst each other without any more fighting - I was so happy for this! The moment I was having the thought of that conversation, the thick clouds started to disperse and a guy appeared, very excited to tell me and anyone he sees about a waterfall he just found. I was happy he spoke English (not many in Bulgaria do), so I asked where he is from - he said Israel. I told him I was just thinking about Israel. Why I'm telling you this story is that guy from Israel had no care where I was from...if I was Palestinian or Israeli or from anywhere else... all he cared about was sharing his beautiful experience and love for life. Can you IMAGINE if all the people of the world was in that same state of mind ALWAYS? “Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one.” - John Lennon THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU Before leaving Greece and starting my adventure through the Balkans, I had to do a quick couple of days road trip to Mt. Olympus and Meteora. Due to my leg injury, I was not able to hike to the top of Mt. Olympus (the highest peak in Greece), but I did venture through some of the trails and found some magnificent swimming holes and waterfalls. The one of the pictures I am posting here is the view of Mt. Olympus peak from my room :) The formations of nature in Meteora are truly AWE inducing! At one time there were over a hundred monasteries there, but now there are around 4 still intact. It is very interesting to see how they built them in the tall mountains. “Give yourself a gift of five minutes of contemplation in awe of everything you see around you. Go outside and turn your attention to the many miracles around you. This five-minute-a-day regimen of appreciation and gratitude will help you to focus your life in awe.” - Wayne Dyer Out of the 41 days I have been in Greece, these past 13 days in Samothraki are runner up to the 8 days in Kalamata - as the BEST SOUL FOOD EVER!!! Samothraki is known to be the most powerful energetic spot in Europe, and I can attest to that. Of all the places I have traveled too, Samothraki is the first I felt I absolutely HAVE to return. I would love to bring my kids with me… they would fit right in. Most of the people here are Greeks in their early 20”s. They come from the their home Islands because it is cheap and awesome. Most camp for free, eating canned fish, bread and fresh fruit. The drinking water is cold and clean from the natural spring - full of minerals that you get for free form the fountain in the town square. The days are spent starting with a swim in the crystal clear blue/green sea, then hiking to one of the what seem to be infinite waterfalls and swimming holes (most w/o clothes). The evenings start with a sunset soak in one of the thermal mineral springs, then everyone gathers at the town square in Therma, or at the beach bar until early morning hours. I and many here hitch-hike from area to area. I have been picked up by old locals in work trucks, mothers with their cars full of their young children (but still make room for me), middle aged tourist, and one time I was picked up by a couple in their twenties, who had some really cool music on that with the combination of the music and beauty of their spirit, I started crying with overwhelm of love and gratitude. Most of you know by now how much I love anything to do with water and swimming places… I have been in heaven for sure. Although it”s not just the dips in the water that has affected me so… it is truly the energy of the area and the people that are here… it seems to me like spirit expressed most naturally. I stayed at Filio Sevastatou Rooms in Therma, which is a short walk to the town square, great waterfalls and swimming holes, and the most happening beach bar/campsite on the sea. My room faced the pathway to the nearest waterfalls (great people watching from my porch) and was directly across from Feggari which is one of the best Taverns in the area, and a perfect place to have my morning coffee delivered by Agatha with her beautiful good morning smile :) The owners and staff of Filio Sevastatou and Feggari were extremely kind to me the entire time… and when I got injured in a moped accident, Kyriakos, the owner from Feggari brought me meals to my porch :) I always post a quote that I feel relates to what I wrote… and this time I had difficulty choosing one because I liked a lot of them. So I will post a few :) “Nature always wears the colors of the spirit.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson “Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” - John Muir “Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.” - Wilma Rudolph “You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.” - Woodrow Wilson “Everyone has a purpose in life and a unique talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.” -Kallam Anji Reddy “Every renaissance comes to the world with a cry, the cry of the human spirit to be free.” - Anne Sullivan SAMOTHRAKI AND ALL THAT IS - THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU |
