ARGENTINA, BOLIVIA, PERU JANUARY 2020

What started out as a trip to Argentina, turned into a journey through the Bolivian desert and some time in Peru. 

As usual, I had certain planetary power spots planned as my main destinations, with Ushuaia Argentina being one of them. Ushuaia is the worlds southern most city before Antarctica, which is also referred to as the End of World. It is truly the epitome of natures glory. 

I enjoyed hanging out with the sea lions and penguins while boating through the many islands in the Beagle channel. I spent multiple days hiking and exploring the rugged and muddied, Terra del Fuego National Park. 

From Ushuaia I went to Capilla Del Monte, which has a history of UFO sightings. It's so well known for this that many stores in the small city sell alien themed souvenirs. My interest in the area is the Cerro Uritorco Hill, that is said to have a crystalline structure, and legends say a specific advanced race of being live within.

I was the fool who thought it would be no problem doing the 4hr hike up the hill in over 90 degrees, midday. It took me 3 hrs to get down, and by the time I was off that hill, I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to walk just one more step. I didn't realize until I got back to my room and looked the mirror how sun burned I got. I peeled on my head, forehead, and shoulders for weeks. And BTW, it's not just a hill, it is an entire mountain range that you hike through to get to the summit. 

I spent a few more days swimming in rivers and waterfalls, then took a bus towards Salta, stopping for a night in the Thermal baths at Termas de Rio Honda. I usually try to find a relaxing place to stay for a night to break up the long bus ride to the next destination of interest. 

Next was Salta, a city lined with cafes, museums and colonial architecture. I stopped there for a day on my way to Purmamarca and its famous hill of seven colors, and the very powerful salt flats of Argentina in Jujuy.

After an all night bus ride to the border of Bolivia, I found myself in the Bolivian Salt flats one day later... that was cool! And to top it off, I ended up spending three days driving through the Bolivian desert on the border of Chile. AMAZING!!

But that wasn't the highlight of the trip... the winner would have to be Lake Titicaca. It is the second largest lake in the world and the highest in altitude that you can navigate. I am absolutely IN LOVE with this lake. I first went there a few years ago from the Peruvian side. I stayed on an Island where you can only stay with a local family for a few days. The people of these Islands still live in there traditional culture totally self sustained. This time I went from the Bolivian side to the very popular tourist Island, Isla del Sol. Unfortunately the people of this Island are having a very difficult time adjusting to the tourism; so bad that the people on the North side refuse to let tourist come on their side due to the destruction of their sacred sites, and almost all the people on the South side have caught the bug of capitalism and turned their homes into hostels, restaurants, and stores. 

Even with this conflict and the steady flow of tourist (most just say the day), the Island still exudes a magical, mystical aura. 

From there is headed to Lima Peru, to catch my flight back to the States. 

The entire trip was exactly one month. If you think that is long, you would be amazed at how many other travelers I meet that have been going for months, or often a year or more. What I love most about traveling is meeting like minded, open hearted, free spirited brothers and sisters. Its a huge wonderful world we live on, and I love every inch of her.
