Within the past couple weeks I heard stories of a dog and person who were expected to live only a month or two, and in both cases the families are restricting them of doing the things they love. The dog loves to take a daily hike on the trail from their home down to the stream with the other dogs, and the man enjoys going into town for a coffee and special snack. Both families are forbidding these outings that bring such joy.
I would think these last couple of months would be to help them do everything they enjoy as much as possible. The reason I was inspired to write this is because during that same week, I ended up watching two movies in which women killed themselves because they felt trapped in lives they deemed utterly unbearable. In both stories the women were overwhelmed from emotions of life experiences and family constraints… so much so they would rather be dead. (A tale of Love and Darkness & Revolutionary Road) No one is absolutely sure what happens after death, but what we do know is we are experiencing this current life now. Knowing you are never sure how long you will be living this life, I highly suggest you allow yourself and others to spend everyday appreciating and living it to the fullest and the best most joyful way possible. “Why do they not teach you that time is a finger snap and an eye blink, and that you should not allow a moment to pass you by without taking joyous, ecstatic note of it, not wasting a single moment of its swift, breakneck circuit?” ― Pat Conroy
